A little set up here is needed. Shelbie and Dagan are from Book 2 in the Diamond Series. It's coming along nicely and will be out soon. In the meantime, book 1 of Diamond Series is titled Diamonds Aren't Forever. Pick up your copy.
Now to continue the setup. Dagan and Hunter is the same man. And, Shelbie has learned of his identity after spending a week in bed with him. Boy is she one hurt lady. However, in this passage, Dagan isn't aware that she knows who he is.
“No. No you don’t.” She jumped
from the couch, her eyes landing on all four pairs. More pity. She took a step
back, rubbing the back of her neck. The tingling just intensified. Shelbie turned, making her way
into the other room, ignoring her friend’s protest. They meant well, but now
she knew how Peyton felt. Shocked, but overwhelmed by the smothering of the
presence of her family. They meant well, but right now it was too much.
“Shelbie he’s after us.”
“What?” She eyed the group.
“That’s not possible. He doesn’t
know anything about you guys.”
